What can I do in San diego during the Xmas holidays?

Question by Wictoria F: What can I do in San diego during the Xmas holidays?
Me and my family are planning on going to San Diego for the holidays. Can you recommend some places that are worth seeing? I mean places that you can’t find in any other place on the earth. ( e.g New York’s statue of liberty , the pyramid of Egypt, The Persepolis of Iran )

And if not so, give me some really good reasons for going to san diego. The weather? The people?

Thanks you guys!

San Diego has the best climate in the country. It’s a major tourist destination and they know how to treat visitors right.

Some must see attractions are the world famous Zoo, Sea World, and Balboa Park. Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in the country. You can get a park passport which allows you entry to a dozen museums as well as the zoo. It’s the best zoo in the world and the museums are all unique.

My favorite museum is the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. It has some of the world largest model train layouts.

Also in Balboa Park is the Speckles Organ Pavilion. It is the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world. They give free concerts on Sundays.

Mission and Pacific Beach are your best bet for fun in the sun. Belmont Park has a vintage wooden roller coaster, one of the last remaining seaside coasters on the West Coast, as well as other rides.

La Jolla offers great views, great food, and shopping.
Check out the surfers at historic Windansea Beach. At low tide you can walk out onto the tide pools. Walk along the Cove and check out the caves. Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art. Take a stroll on Prospect St and check out the shops, galleries, and have some authentic Mexican food and Alfonso’s. Then head to the Birch Aquarium at The Scripps Institution of Oceanography. It has a spectacular view of the bluffs over the Pacific Ocean. You might even see some whales migrating.

The Old Point Loma Lighthouse at the Cabrillo National Monument offers great views of the dowtown skyline, San Diego Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day you can see all the way to Mexico.

Go to your local library and check out a tourist book on San Diego and choose which sites appeal to you and your family.
Since it is Christmas, you will want to go over to Coronado Island (you can drive over the bridge to get there – no toll) and walk around the Del Coronado Hotel at night admiring all the lights, amazing big tree in the main lobby, strolling carolers, ice skating out back, etc. There are fabulous holiday buffets and entertainment. Lots to see and do there.
