Fred’s Mexican Cafe is a great restuarant/bar. I think there are 3 in San Diego. One in Old Town, one in the Gaslamp (or is it Gaslight) District, and one in Pacific Beach (I think).

There are so many places in San Diego. It depends on the atmosphere you want. For casual, fun bars I’d look in Pacific Beach. Tourist ideas:

    1. Watch the fireworks from Sea World while enjoying an intimate bonfire on a San Diego beach.

    2. Share a spectacular sunset with the person you love.

    3. Take an evening kayak journey under the stars.

    4. Bicycle along the coast.

    5. Cuddle together in a horsedrawn carriage touring the waterfront.

    6. Cruise the Bay for romance on the water.

    7. Ride a gondola while snuggling and sipping wine.

    8. Enjoy an intimate dinner right on the beach.

    9. Picnic at Balboa Park and explore this park hand-in-hand.

    10. Hike to a swimming hole and swim under the waterfall.

gaslamp downtown, pacific beach, la jolla, balboa park, the zoo, wild animal park, cabrillo national monument, take a tour of the california missions, old town, mission valley for some shopping, coronado, there is an old town trolley that offers some great tours of the city for a great low price, check it out. enjoy and have fun!

You can start Downtown in the Gaslamp District. PLENTY of bars and restaurants catering to every taste. From there you can take the trolley/Amtrak up the coast, get off in Solana Beach or even Carlsbad and walk around, eat, then head back at sunset out of the right side of the train that basically hugs the coast for most of the trip. This is highly underrated.

Also from downtown you can take the water taxi from the Marriott over to Coronado ferry landing. It’s nice enough by itself just getting across the bay but to finish the trip, you need to go to the “Del”. It’s too far to walk to the Hotel Del Coronado but since you basically have to go, take the 5 minute cab ride and walk the grounds of the hotel–in a word: unbelievable.
